Notables

  • Notable ONE … Lucky is the 2013 TC champ in the Promomedia B division. See the second star note to the right.

  • Notable TWO … Snake arranges for a package of Toilet Paper, to go from BullDog (the sponsor) to BigGuy (the recipient). Know why? Ask someone what this means.

  • Notable THREE … Billiards beat Bookie. They are our two most event played Super Senior Slammers. It was their 42nd career match, and now Bookie is up 21-16-5. This is Billiards' first win since April 16, 2010 at Conklin in Binghamton {17 matches) Bookie had won only 8 of the first 25.

  • Notable FOUR … Biggest upsets of the event. Duker will start his career at #90 {would have been #720 had he gone winless}, with his upset of Hacker. GaspeBoy moved up 98 rungs {101-3}, Billiards rose 95 {130 –35}, Chilly jumped 81 {86-5}, thanks to Cuba. Billiards' number one son {Rulz was 112} beat his number two son {Stevie Ray at 70}, to narrowly edge Crenshaw for top five risings today. Rulz moved up 42 steps to Crenshaw’s 41 {he beat Aggy to move from 61-40}.

  • Notable FIVE … Pace of Play – there were many different comments at both ends of the scale but generally considering the weather MOST were appreciative of the pace. For those of you Slammers who get up and read the summaries of events {even of the ones that you don’t attend}, I welcome you and suggest that you get a copy of the Pace of Play agreement that we all read and sign prior to a large event. There were a couple of Slammers who were a little delinquent today. I would like to remind you that almost 100% of us think that we are okay – and that it is the other person who is slow. Look in the mirror and just fix what you can. Reminder that there are 14 points on the agreement and the last that we check off and sign is that we won't blame weather.

  • Notable Five (attachment) is http://www.executivegolf.ca/pdf/EG%20Pace%20of%20Play%20Agreement.pdf

  • Notable SIX … Today’s rule. So, especially for those who teed off later, I am thinking that we all probably had to putt out on greens that were hit too hard / too fast and had puddles. {By the way – they ALL did drain very well – when given the chance}. So here are some of the options that I had heard about afterwards. a) we just putted where the ball lay and hoped, b) we moved the ball equidistant and putted from dryer land, c) we were going to move it, worried about a DQ and just left it, d) we used the rake as a squeegee and moved the water out of our line. So what are your thoughts of this? How many of you will print off the rule and hand it to me before we tee off on Saturday?

  • Notable SEVEN … One third of the field was sent an email, after the event. They were all reminded of a little impropriety with regards to their signing the sheet and handing it in. I firmly believe, that we all like the stats and hope that our “OWN” are 100% correct. I implore you to help us do so, by spending that couple of minutes after an event to ensure the proper info gets in. I have met Slammers who suggest “I am only in this for one reason or another”. We all eventually get the bug and buy into it more.

  • Notable EIGHT … we almost set a record today. The most eagles in one group. WHAT! You hadn’t heard of the eagle fest? Well apparently the stats change when the nine holes get inverted.

  • Notable NINE … the new ACE club. No – not Ace the Slammer fan club, but the hole-in-one club. As we all know, Iron Maiden drained the pot last week. Therefore we needed to start again. Snake, Gator and Grumpy have all renewed their membership and paid PizzaMan {the keeper of the club}. Want in? send Malone an email and pay PizzaMan {there are a few people that may collect on his behalf if you are at an event – IM may deliver it for you. OCs also can collect it – BUT send the email to Malone. You are in when you send the email, Not when you pay.

  • Notable TEN … We need volunteers and it sure is great when you the golfer thank them after an event. A few volunteers were very impressed by the thanks that they received from you. I thank you ShortStack, and to you also BigThunder for helping to get the Culligan Water dogs correctly recorded. The Evolution Physio Skin report will all be done after the third round – next Saturday.

  • Notable ELEVEN … Relatively speaking, some Slammers shot very well today. Led by Grumpy (-14), GaspeBoy (-10), Lucky (-9), Danger (-8), and Duke & ShortStack at six below their scoring medians. Others were inevitably at the other end of the spectrum (including a couple that DNF), they were Pouf, Wilford, RoadWarrior, Sunny, Juice, & BigGuy.

  • Notable TWELVE … goes with the notable above and the 2 last quotes mentioned below. Every event – when someone shoots low (has a good round), we hear the first one. We are still waiting for the day when we hear the latter, when someone has a bad day.

  • Quotables

  • "Did you use a spatula for getting that skort off?"

  • "My shaft length is about four inches."

  • "How come he shot that low? He is a sandbagger!" "Why is he in this division? He shot too high!"
