The legendary Sam Snead is the only male golfer to have won a tournament on the LPGA Tour. He won the 1962 Royal Poinciana Plaza Invitational finishing with a 5 shot lead. Thank you Prescott GC for this tidbit, the three star prizes, and the greatest facility (I've never seen the course in better shape) that I can recall them lending us for a few hours. Thom was doing a great job with course management, juggling a mini shotgun, another group starting on back nine and five groups of Slammers doing the loop from 1-18 in just a little over four hours. Did you know that 132 (that I know of) Slammers are participating in the Ottawa Sun Scramble this week. In fact there are 39 playing today at GreyHawk.

Notables

  • Rooster joined the hole in one club

  • MILESTONES: Mulder – 300th loss. Happened officially on the 13th hole at the hands of Potter, but unofficially – it was his phone.

  • Bagger – 200th career point was obtained when BigGuy shook his hand after twelve.

  • When AngryBird shook hands with Dracula after the twelfth, it was Dracula’s 400th career point

  • Out of bounds – holes 17 and 18 … many funny stories have always been shared on this course at these two holes. The road that we travel on to come here is called Boundary. When you are ON boundary (or across it), then you are OUT of bounds. Did you know, that every street post along the road has a white OoB stake nailed to it … you are actually out of bounds in approximately the last foot of grass along the way.

  • Reminder that the tee blocks are NOT intended to be a lifetime assignment, sometimes there may be requests to move back or forward, and it will depend on constructive recommendations. Dracula has been warned that Grumpy has submitted a request for him to become a T6 . “He has earned it!”

  • Commish Cup – trivia question: How impressive is two in a row (3 overall) defending champion’s former capt’s record – 59 points as a result of being on six straight teams (almost ten points per).

  • Group five - Congratulations to Bubba. First for improving so much that he has been precluded from the D division’s TC. His next match was to be vs Grumpy. They played today in a Faux TC D match and another congrats to the Bubba. They shook hands after 16. Earlier Wilford extended his undefeated record vs Grumpy to 21, and Rooster won his fourth straight match of his rookie season (he is now at 6-0 career) welcome to the Tour!

  • THANK YOUs to the following .....

  • The first to CPGA pro Thom Miller, for the prizes and great interaction to get our event squeezed in and off without a glitch.

  • Secondly to our QUICKSNAP doggy Master Wilford – he collected, he stayed to do his report, in spite of a three hour drive home, and maybe MOSTLY for entertaining the 19th hole crowd with his abuse of the OC.

  • Our third thank you goes to Mulder. Under pressure to get the skins in quickly – with no easy link to the system – and using the laptop of our untechie (sorry Jamie – kind of!) OC. When as he was doing the Broker4Tickets report, he corrected an error ‘on the fly’ and did a great job! Well at least until he started his political advertisements, and I like Harper too

  • Bubba (fourthly) donated a Marshes golf pass – for the first star.

  • To Kookie (#5) for sharing with us her humour about Jonathan Livingston Seagull, and to KidsClub (sixth) for being the only one to acknowledge.

  • The last notable is about a rule … it is a warning. I have been an OC for a long time and I witness many different scenarios at the 19th. When you get together and sign a scorecard and hand it in – you have agreed to what is written – you should actually verify all 18 holes. When I do a report I verify all that I can – when I see an anomaly, I ask the foursome and make the change. I did it today – but cannot any longer – SO FRIENDS please verify your 18 hole scores, before you sign it!
