We had a perfect crew of 19 Slammers for today's event at Metcalfe, and then out of the blue we were gatecrashed by KidsClub… he was a welcome addition and made up our 20 Slammers. What a day! Unfortunately our on-line scoring app failed us and all the scores where hand written just like the old days where score cards where score cards and pencils were sharp and hard to find: “You got a pencil, Shades?” But hey, we got through it and all scores were recorded and checked at the 19th hole. This was a strong field in all Divisions and we were graced with the presence of Chef from the Open Division. Some outstanding groups and some fine rounds on the day with Moz carding a 75, and believe me it was effortless to record the top round of the day. There were several upsets, too, too many to mention but big shout out to Paul Gendreau (B45) for taking down BigWig (A8). We had one CMPC match in the semi final stage of the Supreme Senior (+75 years) where McDon won on the 16th hole. All Dogs were won on the day and only 3 skins were taken. Overall a great group on a great day at a fine golf course... what more could you want. Thanks to Mr Lyrics for being our paparazzi photo master, and thanks to Shades, Duke, RobBob and Chef for their donations to the kids.
And the winner... ladies and gentlemen is... (drumroll)... ”Hodgy” Dave Hodgson. The big lad finished with 13 Stirling Johnston points taking down all 3 opponents for 9 points, winning one Dog for 2 points, one birdie for 1 point and one birdie for 1 point, and he beat his median by 4 strokes for another single point. Well done, Hodgy... great play and well deserved pal.

Metcalfe was in great shape and many scores reflected how well it was playing today. It’s always a good thing when Slammers have lots of opinions on the greens. I would say they were true and the pace was decent and judging by the lack of 3 putts they must have been to everyone’s liking… The Club Championship Slammers will enjoy this course.
