Cedar Glen

It was late afternoon yesterday when Ruth started the messaging on the ST Chit Chat that the weather was looking good and within the hour a phone call was made to Cedar Glen and we had an event posted by early evening. With the late notice we had four Slammers ready to play and by 11:00 am this morning we were hitting our drives off the first hole with sunny skies and 9 degrees that climbed to double digits throughout the round. Amazing! It was quite the sight to see our drives roll and roll and bounce and roll down the first fairway and at that moment we realized the ground was quite frozen. Also amazing! Our group were all quite experienced late season golfers and we knew that landing on the green would be trouble so we aimed to land 20-30 yards short and roll up to the green. By the back nine the sun softened the course and even though our drives were going a little shorter than the front we were able to stick some shots into greens. The pond on #6 par three had the frozen pond in play and several of our shots skipped on the ice to safety on the other side. Having the season extended with a long range forecast showing good weather until December 24th? Absolutely priceless.
