December 28th., 2023 and today's event set a new record for the latest in a season Slammer event ever! The previous latest date was December 24th., 2015 and looking at the lineup only Stevie Ray was there on that day as well as today. Sunny was the OC on that day and the start to his write up described conditions that sounded pretty much like the conditions from today "... Slammers waited in line to splash around 18 holes". I suppose I should have taken the hint when I checked in at the pro shop and they asked me if I had packed my hip waders. It has been quite warm in Willamsburg and so all the frozen ground that we enjoyed a couple of weeks ago melted and made for a fairly wet course on a number of holes. The greens were extremely receptive though and you could take the full club distance to the pin and it stuck exactly where it landed. We posted this event yesterday and all three groups sold out and regardless of the conditions we got to enjoy outdoor golf on grass. Was it worth it? Heck yes! Very fun and so nice to see everyone out. A big thank you to Ruth for sending the delicious Christmas cookies that were enjoyed on the 19th hole. Yummy. Happy New Year to all Slammers and hopefully Stymie's wish will come true for a January event.
Stevie Ray really loves December golf. He played in three of the December events and was the event winner each time including today! Once again SRR defended his C1 rank taking the wins against Baloo, Potter and Papa Malone and all by the 17th hole. He took home 1/3 of the skins pot, collects 15 Matheson Group Realty points along the way and shoots a score 5 strokes below his median. Nice!

So since they are always open and greens are not covered in the Winter, if Mother Nature says we can play, then Denis says we can play. How great is that!
